It’s that gut-wrenching feeling of waiting for the call that never comes, that text you never should have expected. It’s being toyed with like a wind up souvenir. It’s getting your hopes up over someone who will finally treat you like a human bring only to be let down. That’s why I stopped loving a long time ago.
Today, I found out the boy I’ve been heartbroken over for months now is gay.
I always told myself that he was gay. I didn’t want to think that all my love was unreturned because he got sick of dating me. Knowing the truth helps a little.
Today, I broke someone’s heart just to keep my own intact.
I’ll do that probably again, simply because I am afraid of loving someone again. I don’t know how to open myself up enough to let someone else in. I’m too scared.
And tomorrow, I’ll open my eyes, take a deep breath, and try again. Each fresh day is a new beginning.
I’m so tired of hurting everybody.

Thank the people who went across the seas to fight for us and be sure to show your gratitude for the people that fought to preserve your freedom. Be thankful that you haven’t had to endure the hardships of war that they have and pray for those still over seas. Here’s to bringing the troops home safely.
